Ever sat across from someone and taught them something that you are passionate about? Ever explained how “easy” it is to accomplish the thing? Ever sat there and wished you knew how to take your own advice? That’s me.
Believing in yourself is hard. End of post. End of story. But dammit it is so important, so I continue.
I just sat across the lunch table with two of the most successful and admirable real estate investors I have ever met. I heard how one bought 200 houses in 5 years, then 130 the next year. I learned about his systems and how he “just does the analysis” in his head without paper or calculator. He explained how if his wife wants something he says “yes” then figures out how to “make more money.” He said it just like he was going to the store to get more milk. He goes out and just makes an extra ten grand.
There I sat, wondering how I was going to cover tomorrow’s car payment, hell, wondering how I was going to cover dinner. I work my ass off day in and day out. Yet still have no idea how I am going to cover bills. I am tired of this. I am tired of watching the world go by.
Sitting across the table from these two wishing I knew the inside of how they got to where they were they asked a question that hit me in the gut. “What is stopping you?” What is stopping me? It feels that every time I have an idea I start to obsess over it and then hit a wall of doubt. No one wants that. That costs too much. I am not capable. The last one is the hardest and yells the loudest. I am not capable. What a lie. I am capable! I never thought I’d be married. I am married. I never thought I’d be a dad. I have a kid and one on the way. I am an idiot. I can do everything! God tells me so.
I can explain investing and financing and recycling capital all day long. I love this stuff. It is truly my passion. I know I can capitalize on it by helping and teaching people to avoid mistakes and better analyze deals. I am just scared to take my own advice, because I don’t believe I can.
Believing in yourself is the only limiting factor. Believing in yourself isn’t selfish. In fact, just the opposite. Believing in yourself allows you better chances to succeed so THEN you can go out and help other people. Plane oxygen masks come down, “put your mask on first before helping anyone else”. My business partner has a sticker in her truck rearview mirror that says, “Manifest that Shit!” She is also extremely successful. The sticker works! Believe in yourself, truly believe. Manifest it into being. Repeating the same shit is insanity, repeating that you are capable is life changing!
Believe in yourself! You can do this! You is strong! You is kind! And whatever else finishes, dammit, you are ENOUGH! You are CAPABLE! You DESERVE IT. Love you! Go be fucking awesome!!
